As part of US Soccer the recognized partner for equipment is Official Sports International. It is preferred that you wear official US Soccer referee uniforms (shirts shorts and socks) when refereeing our games. Official Sports has Starter Kits starting at $54.95 for the essentials. Additionally, you must purchase a wristwatch with a timer function.

Our informal recommended essential equipment list includes:
- YELLOW Referee Shirt,
- Shorts (Ussf or plain black with pockets with NO LOGOs or Color),
- Long Black Socks (ussf, two-stripe style)
- black tshirt – No LOGOS (this is an emergency second shirt, keep a clean one in your referee bag in case you need it)
- If the weather is cold, a long sleeve shirt may be worn underneath the referee jersey however it MUST be black.
- shoes: can be runners or cleats should be black or mostly black and comfortable. Please have shoes appropriate to the field e.g. turfs or tennis shoes.
- referee flag set
- whistle (Fox 40 Classic)
- wristwatch with stopwatch and timer function (e.g. Timex Ironman. NOTE: practice using it)
- yellow and red cards
- pen/pencil
- backpack or bag to keep referee gear in
- sunscreen
